From the article:

I don???t know about you but I feel a million times better when my home is organized! It???s actually kind of crazy how I automatically get more focused when everything is put away nice and neat.

But a lot of the organization ideas out there are designed for people who have hundreds of dollars to just spend on fancy gadgets. Not everyone has that luxury (or does but still finds value in saving money). So here are 15 dollar store organization ideas for every area of your home, all in one place. You can???t beat these amazing tricks and tips. Especially for only a couple of bucks each!

Closet
Such a simple way to keep all of your scarves organized. You could also use the same method for hats, tank tops, belts, among other things.

Deep freeze
I think this one is my favorite on this list. Digging through the deep freeze is so annoying! Using these containers make separating food a breeze!

Linen closet
Using baskets is a perfect way to help you separate sheets, pillow cases, wash rags, etc. Instead of having to dig through everything while trying not to unfold the sheets while looking for the fitted sheets. Much less hassle.

From the article:

While technology has come a long way from the days of sitting over a bucket with a washboard and some soap, laundry is still a chore. Sorting, loading, unloading, reloading, folding, putting away ??? it???a lot of work!

Front load washers and dryers make it less taxing but you still have to either crouch down or bend over when loading the machines. Raised laundry machines, however, put an end to the bend.

Elevating your washer and dryer eliminates the need to bend and crouch and makes the whole job feel a lot less chore-like. It???s also a great way to get more storage space and can help make more use of the laundry room.

From the article:

For parents living in a small home that lacks the needed number of bedrooms for each child to live separately, pairing the kids together becomes the only option. When two girls or two boys share the room decorating, designing and organizing the bedroom is an easy task, as it is inevitable that their interests will be similar. However, when it is a girl and boy sharing a room together the task of making the space functional for both can become a daunting and challenging task. Luckily, parents facing this unenviable situation can sleep easy knowing that with a little bit of creativity and hard work a boy and girl shared bedroom is possible. Continue reading to learn tips and advice for how to make a shared bedroom a reality.

Depending on the ages of the kids, room sharing can become even more difficult. If the kids are closer in age it may be easier to design the room because a gender-neutral theme can be selected. However, when the children???s ages differ greatly more time needs to be spent making sure the room will be comfortable for both kids. Since every child has different tastes, temperaments and preferences it is best to divide the layout of the bedroom into three spaces: two private areas and one shared zone. No matter the age of the child, the bedroom is often a private sanctuary that kids can retreat to for comfort and relaxation. Therefore, if a boy and girl are sharing a space together it is important to give each child their own unique space. For a boy, one side of the room may be decorated in a sports theme while for the girl the opposite side may be a princess theme. With the room divided in two sides, create a common space in the room that can be shared by both the boy and girl.

In a traditional bedroom used by only one person storage space is often not a concern; however, when sharing a room finding enough storage becomes even more important. If there is a closet in the room, divide the space in half so that each child has enough room for their belongings. Rooms without a closet or when the closet is not big enough require more creativity to find storage space. Using under the bed storage bins or built-in-shelves can be an excellent alternative for storing the child???s belongings. Remember that since the room is being shared it is important to divide the storage space equally so that one child does not feel left out.

Aesthetically, it is hard to match the interests and design styles of both boys and girls. Therefore, the shared bedroom does not have to be perfectly in sync and matching; however, each element in the room needs to coexist. One way to achieve a balance in aesthetics is to select a color theme for the room. Pick a color that both the boy and girl will enjoy and try to match each element in the room to the chosen color. Room sharing may not be an ideal situation; however, boys and girls can coexist in the same space. If this situation becomes a reality, follow the above tips and guidelines to make a boy and girl shared bedroom the best possible.

From the article:

To break the shopping habit (and spare my bank account), I have gathered these 21 ways to change, tweak and adjust a home without spending a dime.

Light your candles. Candles create a lovely ambience like nothing else. Light them whenever you want a little mood boost ??? try putting one in the entryway, on the coffee table and on the mantel, and a few tapers or tea lights on the dining table.

Use up leftover paint on small projects. A bit of paint left in the can is all you need to paint a mirror frame or group of accessories. Try painting just the legs of a table or chairs, the edges of picture frames, the interior of a tray or the bottom of a vase.

Move your furniture around. Move your bookcases into the dining room (or your dining table into the living room) for a cozy library vibe. For a smaller change, try switching chairs, side tables or lamps between rooms for a new look.

Try your rugs in different rooms. Why not bring your dining room rug into the kitchen or try your living room rug in the bedroom? You may like the results so much, you make it a permanent change ??? and if not, you can always put the rugs back.

Toddlers Always Wanting to Help Around the House? Learn Ways They Can Help Out Here!

From the article:

It is sometimes easy to underestimate the abilities of our children, especially when they are toddlers. It is easy to just do everything for them. I get that. Letting them do stuff themselves is definitely the hard way but it is not the best way to raise responsible and independent people. Getting your toddler involved in chores can be an important step in developing responsible and independent behaviour. It???s also a good way to help your child build positive self-esteem knowing they have not only contributed to the family and household, but that you also trust them to do a good job. That???s why I???ve come with a few chores your toddler can do all by themselves.

Keep in mind that your toddler is not an adult. Do not expect perfection and remember to praise and encourage your child as they are working rather than waiting for them to finish.

Pick Up Toys
Your toddler is definitely capable of picking up their own toys each day. Because your toddler is the one making the mess, it???s important that they are also the ones to pick up those toys, making picking up toys a great chore to start your toddler with. This will help your toddler become more organized and you???ll love not stepping on Legos on your way to the bathroom.

Wash Produce
Sit your toddler at the sink and have them rinse off your produce as you prep your meals. This is a fun way to keep them occupied while you cook.

Wipe Door Handles
Your toddler is the perfect height for this fun chore! If this chore is on your toddler???s to-do list, then hand them a Clorox wipe and let them run around wiping all of the door knobs off. Not only will your child be responsible for a weekly chore, they???ll also be ridding your home of a lot of germs. It???s a win-win for any mom.

Make their Bed
Don???t forget to add your child???s bed to the chore list. This is a great daily chore that you can assign to your toddler. Simply have your toddler make their own bed before leaving the bedroom. To do this, your toddler will need to straighten the pillows and pull the blanket up over the pillows. Not only is this a good chore to teach your child responsibility, it???s also a great habit to learn.

Wash Dirty Dishes
Your toddler will love this job between the bubbles and the water. Get them to wash up and dry any non-breakable dishes such as plastic cups, spoons, pots etc..

Maintaining your home is important all year long. Knowing what to do when though is hard. That’s why we’re here to help! We found this article on what to do this fall. We hope it helps extend the life of your home!

From the article:

As the leaves change and the days get shorter, take the time this autumn to prepare for the oncoming cold weather. Ready the furnace for the months of work it will have ahead, and clean out the fireplace. Test them both to ensure they???ll be working when you need the heat. Don???t wait until it???s snowing to clear out your gutters. With upkeep in the fall, you???ll have peace of mind in the winter and more time to hibernate.

Outside The House
The Gutters

It???s best to inspect and clean the gutters a few times during the fall, especially if there are many leafy trees around your house. If gutters remain clogged, water will spill over them and onto the ground next to the foundation, which may cause damage to the foundation. Gutters and downspouts should be kept clean and should direct water away from the foundation, as well as from walkways and driveways, so that they do not become slippery or icy.

Yard Maintenance
The orange, yellow, and brown colors of the autumn leaves don???t look as nice on the ground as they do on the trees. Rake the leaves into piles and scoop them into yard waste bags. Most areas have ordinances about burning leaves, so check with your local area government first. When sweeping the leaves off your patio, don???t forget to clean, pack up, and store any patio furniture for the winter. Disconnect garden hoses and, if practical, use an indoor valve to shut off and drain water from pipes leading to outside faucets. This reduces the chance of freezing in the section of pipe just inside the house.

In The Garage
It is recommended that you empty out unused fuel from any gas-powered equipment stored in the garage, such as a lawnmower, because sediment can build up and clog the fuel lines. Store gasoline in tanks out of children???s reach and have it ready for use in your snowblower or emergency generator, if need be.

From the article:

While you pack for that move, even if it???s just across town, take a home inventory of your possessions. We know what you???re thinking: Why make the moving process any more complicated? But a little more work now will save you time and effort should you ever have to file a home insurance claim.

Why do the inventory now? Because most people evaluate their possessions when they move ??? in hopes of pruning the amount of stuff that goes into the boxes. That makes it a great time to do inventory.

What is a home inventory?
A home inventory lists your home???s contents, descriptions of the items, dates of purchase, their cost at time of purchase, make, model and estimated current value. It serves as a guide to understanding and protecting what you own. An inventory works with your home insurance coverage to protect your possessions, whether they???re stored in or out of your home.

If you don???t already have a home inventory, you???re in the minority of American homeowners. According to a 2012 poll by the Insurance Information Institute, 61 percent of U.S. homeowners have a home inventory.
