Organizing gift wrap can be such a pain! It constantly unrolls itself, can get crushed, the list goes on and on. Then along with the gift wrap there are so many more items that go along with it like ribbon, gift tags, gift bags, tissue paper, greeting cards and scissor. It can become a disorganized nightmare very quickly. In order to create order from chaos we felt it important to share this post on one way to better organize your gift wrapping stuff. There are endless amazing ways to store gift wrap, such as an over the door organizer {genius idea} or under bed storage bins. I knew I had more supplies than what an over the door organizer could accommodate; I also knew I may want to remove the closet door all together someday. I also wanted to keep the wrapping supplies in my studio, which is where I work, craft, project and pretty much spend every last waking second. Lastly, I wanted to set up a station that could potentially transform into a packaging station for my shop someday, if/when I get to that point. Occasionally I ship things and keep shipping envelopes and packaging materials on hand, therefore, it only makes sense that these items live here as well. I was longing for the wrapping paper to be stored in an easy to access way, which would allow for it to stay nice and neat in-between uses. Oh! And my ribbon collection also. I had tried one of those sweet ribbon boxes, and was even planning on DIY’ing a few more, but I ultimately decided that there was a better, space saving solution.

Once all of the dowels were installed, I blasted some tunes, dumped all of my gift wrap supplies on the floor of my studio and spent a few hours organizing it all into bins and baskets. Now, when I look into the closet under the stairs, I see this beautiful site!

2. The school district

Parents want their kids to go to the best school, which can drive up prices of homes in those districts. Even though you might not have children, buying a home in a good school district is always smart. If the schools are desirable, homes tend to hold their value. As a homeowner, you should always be aware of how the schools are doing, not unlike being aware of your roof???s condition, the neighborhood development or city government.

3. The home???s position on the lot
Where the home sits on the lot in relation to the street or the overgrown oak are key elements in picking out a home. In the case of a condo, an end unit vs. an interior unit is a key consideration. You may have chosen the most beautifully renovated home in the best school district and figure all is good. But if the main living areas are shaded by a neighbor???s extension or the master bedroom looks into the neighbors??? family room, you may have a location problem. Light or privacy may not be a hot button for you, but chances are, they might be concerns for a future buyer.

The world is running out of space. Truth be told, the world is running out of a lot of things, but some very simple tweaks to our lifestyle could make the space issue less of an problem. That’s why students at the Savannah College of Art and Design built the SCADpad. It’s tiny. It’s cheap. And it’s actually kind of cool-looking.

At the end of the day, the SCADpad is a student project with all of the creative exploration that entails. Some of it makes great sense. The house is just 8-feet wide and 16-feet long, which is just a little bit smaller than a standard parking space. That unit is relevant, since at least half of America’s 105 million parking spots are empty about half the time. In fact, there are five times more parking space in America than there are cars. Why not fill them with cute but affordable houses?

That’s why students from SCAD designed one that costs about $40,000, complete with all the fun and furnishings. Each of the three SCADpod prototypes includes a small kitchen with an induction stove as well as an organic garden that’s irrigated with a unique greywater filtration and delivery system.

Students also designed the interiors???and you can tell. Some of the design choices (like the vinyl graphic-lined bathroom) look great, while others (like the “interactive fiber walls woven from 40,000 pieces of fabric”) leave a bit to be desired.
